Handy con PLAYTESTING - 17th & 18th April 2026

My dear wife joined me at HandyCon! this time.

A huge help it wouldnt have been as fun without her.

We Met Matt of Thinknoodle Games he was testing a really cool dinosaur game that I can’t wait to play again.

Some really intensive testing, some really good feedback, people said they found Detonation! fun.

Some Improvements to be made, but mostly people wanted the rules explained in a easy to digest way.

PLAYTESTING - 7th March 2026

A Church Playtest, with Dayo, Marcel, Tongi and Ethan.

No major changes to be made are noted.

The Digital Counters where tested, small Improvements to be made to them.

Must record the rules video, nobody wants to read rules.

Handy con PLAYTESTING - 16th January 2026

People playing the card game 'Detonation! The Card Game' at Handycon Jan 2026. a table with game pieces, cards, and instruction sheets.

This battlefield is the 3x8 Grid, its the road leading upto the Neo-Imperialist base.

This was the first time a youngest has playtest Detonation! and thankfully he seemed to get it more than I do, I allowed myself to relax seeing that he was having fun.

HandyCon playtesting was a great day, I received loads of really good actionable feedback everyone was very helpful, and I got to tryout some interesting games also.

This battlefield is the player generated Neo-Imperialist base interior, where players take turns placing 12 battlefield tiles each.

I met Joe (Station Decimus) and Danny that day, nice chaps, Station Decimus was unique, I enjoyed it.

PLAYTESTING - December 2025

Lets call this the 2nd Prototype.

Some at home testing with friends from church, Dayo and Marcel.

Marcel helped me with the Digital Counter Flippers found on this website, he has been extremely generous with his time.

Dayo is from different culture to me and asked some really interesting questions of the game when testing, which really made me think.

First Prototype - March 2024

Early on I made Token shakers, the idea was that they would all be themed to the Episode, a rusty barrel, a oil barrel, a pipe bomb, a torpedo tube, but I found that the tokens didn’t randomize effectively in the tube, so i designed the flip-able counters.

And the battlefield was on A4 sheets, which meant the box size was far to big for the price point I'm aiming for and didn’t allow for customized battlefields, so that had to be changed.

A friend from church, Jonathan was a great help early on, he got the vision even though there was some things that needed fixing and was a great encouragement.

And

My Dear wife Leanne, she is my cheerleader, I'm grateful for her.

Leanne was the very first playtester.
